By making the x3 lfos able to clock to bpm, & then also adding the extra env modes for which 1 option now let us use all x4 env as extra user defined lfo shapes or looped envs to clock... Has totally unlocked whole other levels of the og pallet of the synth engine. The mod mixer is also awesome...
Since we're wishing for future V-things: Roland Alpha Juno, please 😀 The pwm saw and the chorus definitely make it unique. And it's absolutely essential for 90s rave sounds.
@@dulleeblogondy3020 I'm a huge Roland fan but I am not keen on the Roland Cloud series as the render quality of the audio is bad and the synths themselves feel very dated in terms of the interfaces. The Juno replicas by Arturia and Togu Audio Line for example are both superior to Roland's official VST. With that in mind I really hope Arturia roll out an Alpha Juno 2 at some point. A JX3P would also be very cool.
For a vintage wave table synth it's amazing that we can get that kind of NIN distorted drone sound with that, most factory sound are a bit cheezy and outdated, but by tweaking it, we can make interesting sound.
One of the best synths I ever owned, looks like you’re getting more of my money :) Now all I need is a midi controller with polyphonic aftertouch to truly recreate the experience
If you use ableton there is an expression control midi effect where velocity is one of the modulation sources and you can map that to any control on the synth including all the variables on the envelopes
In the 80s I always wanted a esq1 but decided that getting a car was more important. Nowadays I own 3 cars and countless synths and just got this little baby with black Friday
I don't remember which Ensoniq Keyboard I used to drag my mom to a keyboard store so I could play it, but I think it was this one it was called the ESQ-80? And wasn't it CYAN? I don't remember it being red like this. Also I didn't realize it had all these features, I realize Arturia adds stuff, but I'm wondering how much was added. I guess I can inquire of GEMINI or CHAT-GPT.. I talked with Gemini about the first digital reverb, and it revealed to me that it hadn't a processor but that the reverb was handled using shift-registers, which if I'm right (only having had a semester of digital electronics) must be used in ALU's to shift the outcome (left or right, which is also used when multiplying or dividing numbers by two. they are also used for bit manipulations of various sorts. But if you can imagine assigning the edges of a bunch of shift registers together, you have a delay line for one bit.. 16 for 16-bits.. But just imagine what would happen if you fed a signal model with the number of bits in each shift register, and used the signal to adjust the shift value, like shift to the left 7 or shift to the right 2.. etc.. That could offer some really creative outcomes.. Makes me wonder what would happen if a modular synthesizer had a breadboard on it and offered a multitude of TTL circuits. You know, like Minecraft redstone for synthesis..
@@rikkshow The X2? I used to use it, but its like 15 years old and clunky as hell. Id like an upto date UI and modernised workflow but with the feature set of the 6400, in an ideal world!
Dear Arturia, could you say please do you have any plans in the future to add NKS support. All your synths I bought so far was with NKS support but this is not🤷♂️
I tried out some virtual synths about 15 years ago, but they had really bad note-on latency. How much latency would this have running on a contemporary gaming-grade portable?
@@LocaliLLocano yeah I received it. Although I'm tempted on buying it. I still think that I need to explore a little bit lore more all the other synths the V8 has to offer. So for the moment I think I'll just wait for the upgrade to V9. Thanks for the tip.
If it comes with the 40 factory programs, you'll have 'KLUNKS' and 'PIANO'... I'm pretty sure the bass in 'Killer' is 'KLUNKS'. I think the strings in 'Killer' may be called 'ANASTR' or 'SYNSTR' or something like that.
Hi dewinchy, it is because it's being modulated by the modulation source. The collar around it with the little dot moving indicates the modulation routing. Cheers!
Hello thanks for your clear presentation. Apparently it is not possible to use the key lab mkII to control the synth. I scheduled to buy such keyboard but will have rather to look at Native maybe ?
Why did NOTCH use redstone and not Scripting ? Scripting is an unnecessary distraction that would take you out of Minecraft , and it requires language mastery and typing, it probably carries ethical concerns, like do you want children making contraptions capturing mobs? What size, the mobs in the games or the mobs in the kitchen? With redstone, you theoretically could teach a young child boolean logic and low-level digital electronics disguised as cool contraptions that get them ahead in the game, but also Passively developing an intuition (familiarity) with digital electronics.
Bad presentation, not the person, but too much talk. You have to play, open the sounds (play real songs) in a first part and then make discover the whole of the beast (the ergonomic and technical plan)
Somehow I can't understand what so many people find good about the ESQ1/SQ80. I had the original one. The sound was totally lousy and the filter was analogue but the resonance couldn't self-oscillate. The sound had no punch in the bass range. A TS-10 emulation would have been more interesting.
Experiment with the mods on pretty much anything and you'll soon start to hear that this thing has a really interesting character. Ok - maybe it doesn't have super low end. Nothing that a little bit of layering with another synth can't solve. Plus the effects section is really well done.
Most people don't like the hardware synth because it's hard to learn how to program, the interface is obtuse despite appearing well-organized, so they just stop playing it and hate it for the flaws in it's tone which are hard to tame unless you nail the controls
@@plastack The SQ-80 is very easy to program. The soft buttons above and below the display combined with the functions controlled by all of the other buttons in the Voice and and Sequencer being no more than a page deep make this thing super-immediate and intuitive for a digital synth. "Hard to program" would certainly describe a DX7, but definitely not an SQ-80.
I own a TS-10 now and owned a VFX, VFX-SD and SD-1 32 voice in the past. Those synths don't have a resonating filter and are completely digital. On top of that, the TS-10 is missing most of the Transwaves as they felt sampling was the direction for those workstations. This appears to offer a lot more character than VFX onward. Speaking of which, extremely happy they added all the VFX transwaves to this.
@@perturb0I was responding to the criticism of it's sound....Sure, a beginner can dive in quickly, but the envelopes require study....I doubt most people can program it well without a lot of practice, nor would they bother to ever learn
I'm no sure about this one but Arturia's "recreation" of Casio CZ is total garbage in comparison to the real one. Recreation means an exact replica but not what's just called "recreation". The only real software replicas are Roland and Korg.
Wow you even included the hidden waveforms! This is great! I have missed my esq1 for a few years now! Finally it will be back in the studio.
yeah, cool stuff
I miss the neon
Thank you for tackling a difficult and technical presentation.
Amazing Keyboard SQ80 V ....Great addition ...Love It !!
Excellent overview, very well explained and demonstrated!
equally love both the sound of this vst and the presenters voice
